Will taking serotonin supplements deplete your natural supply of serotonin?

natural health supplement
Maybe asked:

I was thinking about buying some serotonin supplements at the health store, and I was wondering if there were any adverse effects of it? Does it supply you with serotonin, or does it trigger your brain to produce serotonin? If the second, will that cause your brain to deplete its natural supply of serotonin?
Has anyone ever bought any and can share if they’re worth the purchase/taking?

You would be better going to your doctor and ask for anti depressants

The whole biochemical process for serotonin requires essential vitamins and minerals or these supplements are not going to work otherwise. Foods high in tryptophan are part of this biochemical process. Tryptophan converts into 5HTP naturally however. As for depleting serotonin from serotonin supplements eg: 5HTP, sam- E (not including anti depressants - the method of action are unknown for these drugs), no they will not deplete serotonin levels. Other factors like stress, poor diet/lack of essential vitamins and minerals, lack of vitamin D, hormonal and thyroid imbalances all deplete natural serotonin levels.
