The other 20% are covered by a spouse's plan or are part time workers. If the government forces employers to provide insurance it won't change things much for Walmart. It will make the cost of employees much more expensive for many small retailers and force them to raise their prices even higher. That will make Walmart prices lower by a bigger margin and force more of the competition out of business. As a small business owner I told my employees that they would be facing a $7.00 per hour pay cut if I have to start buying their health insurance. If I have to buy coverage for their whole family I will fire all of them and become a one man show. Walmart already provides health insurance for 80% of their employees.
