What can I do to promote better health for my eyes?
Watching it all fall!!! asked:
Is there any vitamins, supplements, or anything that I can do to help keep my eyes healthy? What is the most damaging thing people do over time that deteriorates or is determinatal for eye health?

The best thing you can do is have an exam every year and have the doctor dilate your eyes to check the health of the inside of the eye, you want to protect your eyes with glasses that have UV protection in sunlight. Beautifulone9980

A lot of people think you can make lifestyle changes that affect your need for glasses. Generally this is not true. What you can affect is your likelihood of getting eye diseases. That is a big deal because while wearing glasses is inconvenient, not being able to see no matter what glasses you wear is devastating. Here are some things you can do. They are listed in their approximate Iimportance:
1. Protect your eyes from UV light by wearing sunglasses and caps.
2. Don’t smoke.
3. Eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables. Spinach contains lutein which has been shown to prevent macular degeneration. Tomatoes contain Zeaxanthin which helps avoid the same disease.
4. If you are not sure you are eating well enough, take a multivitamin. If you are at risk for macular degeneration, take a supplement like Ocuvite.
5. Eat fish or if you don’t like fish take a fish oil or flax seed supplement. These help prevent dry eye.
6. Don’t drink alcohol in excess.
7. Avoid fatty foods. David E
