Vitamin supplements- what should I take/is this bad for me?

vitamin supplements
Marianne asked:

I take two types of supplements daily- teen A-Z and evening primrose oil. However, looking at the label, I can see that they both contain 100% RDA of vitamin e. Is it ok to be taking 200% of the rda daily? Should I just take one type of the pills, or alternate days or something?

Vegetarians don’t need to take vitamins at all. Vitamins are usually unhealthy for you because of the extreme amounts that are put into your body, with a few exceptions. take fortified soy milk and you’ll be A-OK

Take everything you can get your hands on! For the love of god, do what you can to stay healthy! A,B,C B12, Calcium! ANYTHING!

If you are vegan or vegetarian I’d suggest making sure you take a B12 supplement, an Omega 3 supplement, and a Multi vitamin and mineral.

I wouldn’t worry about getting 200% of the RDA from a pill, your body isn’t going to be able to fully absorb it all because it is from a pill and not whole food. Besides, the recommended dose is only to prevent vitamin deficiency, its not the optimal daily intake.
