Opinions on FortiFlora nutritional supplement by Purina?

When I adopted a new kitten recently, I took him to the vet because he had a host of issues (parasites, diarrhea). The vet gave me FortiFlora made by Purina to help with the kitten’s bowel movements. After a few days, it did clear up, and the vet advised me that cats “do better” when on this supplement.

My concern is, this vet seems to know just as much about feline nutrition as any other… he predictably recommended Science Diet strongly, and I know that Purina doesn’t make food that’s actually nutritious, either. So my concern is, is their supplement any good? I was thinking of just giving him the rest of the box (they are packs of powder that you just pour over food once a day) because at $30 for a box of 30, they are kind of pricey.
