“Most of your supplements are loaded with hidden sugars, salts and harmful fillers. You’re really better off getting the nutrients you need from FOOD.”….
“The supplements industry is not only completely unregulated, it is also joined at the hip with some of the biggest pharmaceuticals companies, which have their nutritional supplements divisions. The general public has been mislead for decades to believe that dietary supplements are safe and effective means of ensuring good health, when they are, in fact, actually destroying health.”

Someone else said that, not me.

Comments? Thanks.

i’ve heard because of biochemical irregularities in every person as well as the poor quality of today’s supermarket foods you can’t expect to get all your required nutrients from food alone no matter what, so supplements are necessary for everyone. is this true??

My doctor says that nutritional supplements - Vitamin D, B, Omega 3, Kelp - are a rip off. He said that these are not necessary and people get the nutrients they need through their diet. he feels that these supplements are purely placebo and in some cases can actually cause liver damage.
On the other hand, lots of research that I’ve read online indicates that people need the supplements and that lack of them are what causes various other illness.
What do you know about taking supplements? Why is there such a contradiction in the information about them?
Just to clarify, I’m not trying to lose weight. I was just interested in being healthier and taking supplements for that. Thanks!

Some sources say it is difficult to get all the nutrients you need for a healthy pregnancy from your diet alone (even if you eat healthily) - whereas others say it could be dangerous/not necessary.
