Should I take whey protein with a diet supplement?

Hey all, I’ve been working out for about a month and a half, and ive been bulking up (as well as taking whey protein). However, now I want to get lean. I’m 6′2″ and 230 lbs, and i want to take a diet pill (like hydroxycut or meltdown) just to speed things up. My friend said I should stop consuming the protein because it does the opposite of what the diet pill does, but I’m pretty sure he’s wrong. Losing weight does not matter to me, I just want to lose the bad weight.
