James, have a look at which is a website from Vegan Outreach with advice on specific nutrients from a vegan registered dietitian. There is plenty of calcium available from plant-based foods. Milk is not a natural human food. It's made by a cow for her babies just like human mothers produce breast milk for their babies. So no one can argue that milk from another species is a necessary food for humans. It's really crazy when you think about it. We don't even need our own mothers' breast milk after we're babies.

Vitamin D is also extremely important in your body. Here's an article from that website which talks about vitamin D and calcium.

Foods like collards and broccoli are great sources of calcium. Some foods and beverages like orange juice are fortified with calcium.

Calcium is found in Blackstrap molasses, Collard greens, Tofu, Soymilk, Soy yogurt, Turnip greens, Tofu, Tempeh, Kale, Soybeans, Okra, Bok choy, Mustard greens, Tahini, Broccoli, and Almonds.

Since excessive protein consumption prevents the absorption of calcium, and sodas cause calcium to be leeched from the bones, most people with a "standard diet" have greater calcium needs than do vegans.

After all, people in the U.S. consume greater amounts of calcium today, than ever before, yet osteoporosis is on the rise. Children get more calcium than ever before, yet pulpotomies (pediatric root canals) are becoming quite common. These problems are likely the result of poor digestion (too many processed foods and medications, too little produce) and thus poor assimilation of nutrients.

There is calcium in tofu and you can get fortified soy products which have added calcium. Almonds have a good amount of calcium as do some other vegetables and fruits. Then there are supplements

There are a number of greens which have a fair bit of calcium, but many vegans rely on fortified soya milk and tofu.
