Do patients want their doctors test for nutritional deficiencies and provide guidance on proper supplements?
drtim asked:
I am conducting research on the amount of nutrional advice and oversight physicians are providing to their patients. There seems to be a great deal of interest in the general population but many fellow physicians have failed to recognize this or act upon it. I am using FDA approved testing that is covered by Medicare and most insurances and provides a wealth of information on nutrient deficiencies. It also provides guidance on replenishment so that patients can know exactly what they are lacking and how to fix it. I believe this type of valid data can allow the majority of physicians who are not comfortable ith this area to give good advice. I am trying to provide an effeicient model for physicians to follow. I would like feedback on this and experiences of what has worked or not for others. Thanks

I have been so fortunate to find a Naturopathic Medical Doctor. That means he can prescribe the normal medicines if necessary, but it primary focus is prevention and nutrition. I think that EVERY doctor should be trained this way. It seems in the U.S. that doctors only know how to cure things with a prescription pad or a knife.
I found out recently about a magnesium deficiency that was BAFFLING the doctors. If only they had done the full blood test to see what I was deficient in, it could have save a lot of time and effort, not to mention money! WiserAngel
