Momma2Eliza asked:
i would like to start taking 4g of fish oil and a super b vit. every day. my doctor said it would be fine with the fish oil but i’m curious about if the super b vit. will have any side effects with my daughter.

Absolutely, just don’t megadose on it.
I would even say it is almost manditory - the healthier you are - the healthier your milk is - the healthier your baby will be.
I would even add some Phyto (plant based) multivitamins (check with a natruropath or nutritionist to see what exactly they suggest taking)

You are fine to take fish oil (its especially important during pregnancy because of the DHA which helps with normal brain development for a developing fetus…its a good idea to give fish oil to a developing child once they are born also). The B vitamins are a good idea also and check to make sure that the B complex has a good amount of folic acid. Certain B vitamins and folic acid all help with DNA transcription and translation so therefore they help with the proper development of a fetus. It is very important that you eat really healthy and avoid certain foods (ie: coffee, chocolate etc.) that can be harmful to a developing baby! Good luck with your pregnancy!

While taking some supplements and vitamins are good fro you and baby you should ask your doctor before you start to take anything. Since a baby’s immune system and body aren’t as developed as an adults they have a harder time digesting certain things and may have allergic reactions even if it goes through your body first. One thing i do know is you should eat yogurt or take probiotics while you nurse the baby. They help both of your stomachs digest better and will help to prevent colic.
